BA Softball Club

The BA Softball Club has been in existence since the early 1980's, but officially formed in 1989 and currently plays in the Windsor and Maidenhead Softball League.  The club has two teams that train through the winter and play league games on Tuesday or Thursday evenings between April and August. Home games are played at Strodes College, Egham and away games around the Windsor and Maidenhead area.  Games start at 19:00 and last for about 1.5 hours.

The club also participates in a number of weekend tournaments throughout the summer, usually culminating with the club entering a team into the annual Canadian Airline softball tournament held in Hawaii in early November.

We are always open to new members, whether you have previous experience or not, so if you are interested in taking up a new sport or whether you want to dust off that glove that's been hiding in the back of a cupboard, contact us and join our fun and friendly club.

Softball the basics...

Softball is not played with a soft ball, it is in fact hard. The design of which is the same as a baseball, but with a larger circumference. In softball, a team has 10 players. In mixed softball (which we play) this is comprised of 5 men and 5 women. The game is played on a field that looks like a scaled down version of a baseball diamond. We play ‘Slow Pitch’ where the ball is thrown under arm for the batter to hit. For more detailed information see the ‘Idiots Guide’ on the Links/Downloads page.
