The BA Clubs Softball section has been in existence since the mid 1980's, since then the club has had many players pass through its teams, but to this day the club has still retained its sense of competitive fun. Who else would name the 2005 Grandslam Rec. Champions team the BA-Nanas!!! The softball section has two teams that train through the winter and play evening league games once a week between April and September. Home games are played at the Concorde Centre and away games around the Windsor area, Games start at 18:30 and last for approximately 1.5 Hours. The section also enters a team in to approximately six weekend tournaments throughout the summer, this usually culminates with the section entering a team into the annual Canadian Airline softball tournament held in Hawaii in early November. In addition to entering tournaments, the section holds its own annual tournament in June with around 24 teams playing over the two days. |

Softball The Basics… Softball is not played with a soft ball, it is in fact hard. The design of which is the same as a baseball, but with a larger circumference. In softball, a team has 10 players. In mixed softball (which we play) this is comprised of 5 men and 5 women. The game is played on a field that looks like a scaled down version of a baseball diamond. We play ‘Slow Pitch’ where the ball is thrown under arm for the batter to hit. For more detailed information see the ‘Idiots Guide’ on the softball page. HERE |
